SYNOPSIS: Mindcandy began as a small design studio in Austin in 1994. Our primary business was creating logos, corporate identities and ideas for company names. This was the beginning of the high-tech boom in Austin and Mindcandy was poised for success with such an unforgettable name. Because of our love of typography, we began to create our own custom typefaces for use in our client's design projects. Mindcandy's typographically charged design was unique—which was the key to our rapid growth in Austin—a market saturated with graphic design agencies. In 1995, we officially launched Mindcandy—the digital type foundry. In the days when there were only a handful of independent type foundries like Emigre, T-26, Lunchbox, PsyOps and P22—Mindcandy is recognized for helping to launch the 1990's typographic revolution. In 1999, we unveiled our new brand identity.
RESULTS: Our goal was to create a brand identity that was indicative or our approach to both typography and graphic design. Purple was used to convey our deep sense of spirituality. The yellow flower symbolizes growth during springtime, because we were continually designing new typefaces and adding fresh new "indy foundries" from around the globe. Mindcandy is known around the world for its contribution to the typographic revolution. |
